Chin Liposuction vs Endolift vs Fat-Dissolving Injections
There are three main ways to treat a double chin today: liposuction, Endolift laser and fat-dissolving injections. I offer both liposuction and Endolift in my Istanbul practice, and I often recommend one over the other. The right choice depends on two things: how much fat you have, and how firm your skin is.
Chin liposuction
How it works: fat is removed through a tiny incision under the chin with fine cannulas.
• Best for: moderate to large fat deposits with reasonably good skin
• Sessions: one
• Downtime: about 5–7 days
• Result: immediate fat removal, final shape at 3–6 months
• Lasting: removed fat cells do not return if your weight is stable
Endolift laser
How it works: a very thin laser fibre is placed under the skin through a needle entry. It melts small amounts of fat and stimulates collagen, so the skin tightens.
• Best for: small fat deposits, mild skin laxity, patients who want no incision
• Sessions: usually one
• Downtime: 1–3 days of mild swelling
• Result: gradual, improving over 3–6 months as collagen builds
• Lasting: long-lasting, but skin continues to age naturally
Fat-dissolving injections
How it works: a substance such as deoxycholic acid is injected into the fat to break down fat cells.
• Best for: small, well-defined fat pockets
• Sessions: usually several, a few weeks apart
• Downtime: swelling for several days after each session
• Result: gradual, after the full course
• Lasting: treated fat cells don’t return
Which one is right for you?
• A lot of fat, good skin: liposuction gives the clearest result in one session.
• A little fat, slightly loose skin: Endolift is often the better choice.
• Fat and loose skin together: liposuction combined with Endolift can tighten the skin while removing fat.
• Very loose, hanging skin: none of the three is enough on its own; a neck lift may be needed. Read when to combine chin liposuction with a chin implant or neck lift.
How much does each cost?
