Endolift in Istanbul: Non-Surgical Laser Facelift

non-surgical endolift laser facelift

As we age, the skin loses collagen and elasticity, the face loses its sharp contours, and small fat deposits gather along the jawline and under the chin. Many people notice these changes in their late thirties or forties, but are not ready for a surgical facelift. They want a visible improvement without incisions, without general anaesthesia and without weeks of recovery.

Endolift is one of the most effective non-surgical options for this group. Using an ultra-thin laser fibre placed under the skin, Endolift tightens the tissues from the inside, reduces localised fat and stimulates new collagen, all in a single session. I am Op. Dr. Akın Şahin, a European Board certified facial plastic surgeon in Istanbul. Because I also perform surgical face and neck lifts, I can tell you honestly whether Endolift will give you the result you want, or whether surgery would be a better choice. In this guide, I explain everything you need to know about Endolift in Istanbul.

What Is Endolift and How Does the Laser Work?

Endolift is a minimally invasive laser treatment. Instead of applying energy from the surface of the skin, as most devices do, Endolift delivers laser energy directly beneath the skin through an optical fibre as thin as a hair. Because the energy goes exactly where it is needed, without passing through the skin surface, the effect is stronger and more targeted.

The laser, typically with a wavelength of 1470 nm, has three main effects:

  • Immediate tightening: Heat causes the collagen fibres in the fibrous septa under the skin to contract, which tightens and lifts the tissue.
  • Fat reduction (lipolysis): The laser breaks down small fat deposits, for example along the jawline and under the chin.
  • Collagen stimulation: Over the following months, the skin produces new collagen and elastin, improving firmness, texture and quality.

The result is a firmer, lifted and more defined face, with improvements that continue for months after treatment.

Why Is Endolift Performed?

The main reason patients choose Endolift is to regain youthful facial contours without surgery. Typical concerns include:

  • Loss of definition along the jawline
  • Early jowls
  • Sagging cheeks and deepening smile lines
  • Loose skin and fat under the chin
  • Loss of firmness in the neck
  • Mild bags under the eyes

Another reason is localised fat. Some people have a full lower face or a double chin even when they are slim. Endolift can reduce this fat while tightening the skin at the same time, which is something many other non-surgical treatments cannot do.

Your Endolift Consultation

Every Endolift treatment starts with a detailed consultation. I examine your face and neck at rest and while you move, assess the thickness and elasticity of your skin, the amount and position of fat, and the strength of the underlying support. I also ask about your medical history, medications and any previous treatments such as fillers, threads or surgery.

The most important part of the consultation is deciding whether Endolift is the right treatment for you. Patients with early to moderate changes and good skin quality usually respond very well. Patients with heavy jowls or a lot of loose skin in the neck may be disappointed with any non-surgical treatment, and I will tell you this honestly. If Endolift is suitable, we plan the treatment areas together, and in most cases treatment can be performed on the same day or the following day.

How to Prepare for Endolift

  • Stop aspirin, anti-inflammatory painkillers, fish oil, vitamin E and ginkgo about one week before treatment, unless prescribed by your doctor.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours before treatment.
  • Do not have fillers or threads in the treatment area in the two weeks before Endolift.
  • Arrive with a clean face, without make-up.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, let me know, as preventive medication may be recommended.
  • Plan your treatment at least two to three weeks before an important event.

How Is Endolift Performed?

Endolift is performed in the clinic under local anaesthesia. The procedure follows these steps:

  1. Planning and marking: I assess your face, decide which areas will be treated and mark the lines (vectors) along which the laser will be applied. These vectors are planned according to your facial anatomy to create a lifting effect in the right direction.
  2. Cleansing and anaesthesia: The skin is disinfected, and a local anaesthetic is injected through a few tiny entry points.
  3. Laser application: A fine needle creates a small opening in the skin, through which the laser fibre is inserted. The fibre is moved in a fan-like pattern under the skin, delivering controlled energy to the target tissues.
  4. Completion: The fibre is removed. No stitches or bandages are needed.

The procedure usually takes 45–60 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated. You can go home immediately afterwards.

Which Areas Can Be Treated With Endolift?

  • Jawline and jowls: To define the lower face and reduce early jowls.
  • Under the chin: To reduce a double chin and tighten loose skin. See Endolift for double chin.
  • Cheeks: To lift sagging cheeks and soften smile lines.
  • Neck: To tighten loose neck skin.
  • Lower eyelids: To reduce mild under-eye bags and improve skin quality.
  • Body areas: Such as the inner arms, knees and abdomen for small areas of fat and laxity.

Who Is Endolift Suitable For?

Endolift is ideal for adults with mild to moderate skin laxity who do not want surgery or who have a medical reason to avoid it. Ideal candidates usually:

  • Are in their mid-thirties to late fifties
  • Have early jowls, a softening jawline or a mild double chin
  • Have good skin quality that will respond to collagen stimulation
  • Want a natural improvement with minimal downtime
  • Have realistic expectations

Endolift is less suitable for people with very loose skin, a large amount of excess skin in the neck, or advanced signs of ageing. In these cases, a surgical face and neck lift usually gives a far more satisfying result.

Endolift is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, in people with active skin infection in the treatment area, uncontrolled diabetes, bleeding disorders, or certain autoimmune diseases.

What Are the Benefits of Endolift?

  • No incisions and no scars: Only tiny entry points that heal within days.
  • Local anaesthesia: No general anaesthesia is required.
  • Usually a single session: Most patients need only one treatment.
  • Tightening and fat reduction together: Endolift lifts the skin and reduces fat in the same session.
  • Collagen stimulation: Skin quality continues to improve for months.
  • Natural results: Your facial expressions remain natural; you simply look fresher and more defined.
  • Short recovery: Most patients return to daily activities within one or two days.
  • Suitable for all skin types: Because the energy is delivered under the skin, the risk of pigmentation is low.

Recovery After Endolift

Recovery after Endolift is quick. Immediately after treatment, the treated area may look slightly swollen and feel firm. Mild redness, swelling and tenderness are normal and usually settle within 24–48 hours, although some swelling can persist for a few days in the lower face and neck. Small bruises may appear at the entry points and fade within a week.

To support healing:

  • Avoid strong massage on the treated area for the first few days.
  • Avoid saunas, hammams and intense exercise for a few days.
  • Drink plenty of water to help the body eliminate the broken-down fat.
  • Use a high-factor sunscreen while the tissues are regenerating.
  • Follow any instructions about wearing a compression garment if the chin or neck was treated.

Most patients return to work the next day.

Endolift Before and After

The change after Endolift develops in two stages. Immediately after treatment, the face already looks tighter because collagen fibres contract with heat. However, this is partly masked by swelling.

The real result appears over the following weeks and months. As the swelling settles and new collagen forms, the jawline becomes more defined, the jowls are reduced, the neck looks smoother and the skin appears firmer. Before and after photos taken at three and six months usually show the most noticeable difference. You can see examples in my gallery.

Who Has Endolift?

My Endolift patients come from many backgrounds. Some are professionals in their forties who want to look as energetic as they feel, without taking time off work. Others are younger patients with a genetically full lower face or double chin. Some are mature patients who have had a facelift years ago and want to refresh their result. Many international patients choose Endolift because it fits perfectly into a short trip to Istanbul.

Is Endolift Permanent?

The fat cells destroyed by the laser are permanently removed from the body, and the new collagen network created by the laser is a lasting change in the tissue. Many patients enjoy their result for several years. However, Endolift does not stop the natural ageing process. With time, the skin will continue to age, and new laxity may develop. A healthy lifestyle, a stable weight, sun protection and good skin care help preserve the result for as long as possible.

Is Endolift Painful?

Endolift is performed under local anaesthesia, so most patients feel very little during the treatment. You may notice a sensation of warmth or mild pressure. After the procedure, the area may feel tender or tight for a few days, which is easily managed with simple painkillers.

Is There an Age Limit for Endolift?

Endolift can be performed on adults over 18. However, from an aesthetic point of view, it is most commonly performed from the age of 30–35 onwards, when collagen loss begins to show. In younger patients, it is mainly used for genetically determined fat under the chin or along the jaw. In older patients, results depend on skin quality: the better your skin, the better the result.

How Many Sessions of Endolift Are Needed?

For most patients, one session is enough. The laser starts a biological process of tissue remodelling that continues for about six months. In patients with more pronounced laxity or fat, a second session may be recommended after six months to a year.

How Effective Is Endolift?

Endolift is considered one of the most effective non-surgical treatments for facial tightening and contouring, because the energy is delivered directly to the source of the problem beneath the skin. Devices applied from the outside lose much of their energy at the skin surface; Endolift delivers it precisely to the target tissue. This makes it particularly effective for jowls, a double chin and loss of definition along the jawline.

It is important to be realistic, however. Endolift is not a replacement for a surgical facelift in patients with significant sagging. It gives the best results in the right patient, which is why a careful consultation is essential.

When Do Endolift Results Appear?

  • Immediately: A tightening effect is visible as soon as treatment is completed.
  • First week: Swelling settles, and the contour becomes clearer.
  • 1–3 months: Fat reduction becomes visible, and new collagen starts to form.
  • 3–6 months: The final result is reached as collagen remodelling is completed.

Endolift vs HIFU and Radiofrequency

Patients often ask how Endolift compares with other skin-tightening treatments such as HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) and radiofrequency.

  • HIFU and external radiofrequency deliver energy through the skin surface. They are completely non-invasive and require no anaesthesia, but much of the energy is lost on its way to the deeper tissues. Several sessions are often needed, and results are usually milder.
  • Endolift delivers energy directly under the skin. This makes it more powerful, especially where fat reduction and tightening are both needed, and a single session is usually enough.

For patients who want maintenance or very mild improvement with no recovery at all, external devices may be enough. For patients who want a clearly visible change in the jawline, jowls or double chin without surgery, Endolift is usually the more effective choice.

Endolift for the Under-Eye Area

Endolift can also be used around the lower eyelids to tighten thin, crepey skin and reduce mild under-eye bags caused by small fat pads. Because this area is delicate, it requires a lower energy setting and great precision. Endolift is suitable for mild bags; larger bags or significant excess skin are best treated with eyelid surgery.

Endolift for the Neck

The neck often shows signs of ageing earlier than the face, and it is one of the hardest areas to improve without surgery. Endolift can tighten mild to moderate neck laxity, smooth horizontal neck lines to some extent and sharpen the transition between the jaw and the neck.

The neck is usually treated together with the jawline and the area under the chin, so the whole lower face is improved as one unit. Patients with prominent vertical neck bands or a large amount of loose neck skin usually need a surgical neck lift for a satisfying result, but Endolift is an excellent option for earlier changes.

Maintaining Your Endolift Result

The result of Endolift continues to develop for about six months. To protect and prolong it:

  • Keep a stable weight, as significant weight changes affect facial contours.
  • Protect your skin from the sun with daily sunscreen.
  • Avoid smoking, which breaks down collagen.
  • Use good skin care, including retinoids and antioxidants if recommended.
  • Consider skin quality treatments, such as skin boosters or salmon DNA, once or twice a year.

Many patients choose a maintenance session or a complementary treatment after a few years to keep their face looking fresh.

Possible Side Effects and Risks

Endolift is a safe treatment when performed by an experienced doctor, but as with any procedure, side effects can occur:

  • Common and temporary: Swelling, redness, tenderness, a feeling of firmness and small bruises at the entry points.
  • Uncommon: Temporary numbness, small areas of unevenness or a firm nodule, which usually soften over a few weeks.
  • Rare: Burns, infection or temporary weakness of a facial nerve branch.

These risks are minimised by careful planning, correct energy settings and a detailed knowledge of facial anatomy. As a facial surgeon, I know exactly where the facial nerve branches run and how to protect them.

Endolift for Patients From Abroad

Endolift is particularly well suited to international patients because it is performed in one session and requires very little recovery time. Before you travel, you can send me photos of your face from the front and both sides. I will let you know whether Endolift is suitable for you, which areas should be treated, and whether combining it with another treatment would be beneficial.

I recommend staying in Istanbul for at least one to two nights after treatment, so I can check you the following day. You can fly home after that. Because the result develops over three to six months, we stay in touch by WhatsApp, and you can send me progress photos.

Endolift and Other Treatments

Endolift can be combined with other treatments for a more complete rejuvenation:

Endolift or Surgical Facelift?

Endolift and surgical facelifts serve different patients. Endolift is ideal for early to moderate signs of ageing, offers a short recovery and gives a natural refresh. A surgical face and neck lift is the right choice when there is significant sagging and excess skin, and it gives a much more powerful and longer-lasting result. As a surgeon who performs both, I always recommend the option that suits your face rather than the one that is easier. You can read more on my facelift cost in Turkey page.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
