Is It Safe to Get a Nose Job in Turkey? How to Choose Your Surgeon
Turkey has become one of the world’s leading destinations for rhinoplasty. Every year, thousands of patients from the UK, Europe, the US and the Middle East travel to Istanbul for a nose job. But alongside many excellent results, you’ll also find stories of rushed surgeries and disappointing outcomes. So, is it safe? The honest answer: it can be very safe, if you choose the right surgeon. Here’s how to do that.
Why Is Rhinoplasty in Turkey So Popular?
- Experienced surgeons: Turkish surgeons perform a very high number of rhinoplasties, and many are internationally trained and certified.
- Modern techniques: ultrasonic (piezo) and preservation rhinoplasty are widely available.
- Lower cost: rhinoplasty cost in Turkey is significantly lower than in the UK or US, without lower standards in the right clinic.
- Easy travel: Istanbul is a short flight from most of Europe and the Middle East.
How Much Does a Nose Job Cost: Turkey vs UK and US
- Turkey: in my practice, $2,900–$3,500 for a primary rhinoplasty in 2026, with packages that include hotel and transfers
- UK: typically around £5,000–£8,000 in private clinics
- US: often $8,000–$15,000 or more, including anaesthesia and facility fees
The lower price in Turkey reflects lower operating costs, not a different operation. You can see what’s included on my rhinoplasty cost in Turkey page.
What Makes Rhinoplasty Safe?
Safety doesn’t depend on the country. It depends on four things:
- The surgeon’s training and specialty. Rhinoplasty is one of the most complex facial operations. Look for a surgeon who specialises in the nose, such as a facial plastic surgeon or ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeon with rhinoplasty training. ENT surgeons are trained in both the appearance and the breathing function of the nose.
- Board certification. Ask about national and international certification. I am certified by the Turkish ENT Board and the European Board of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.
- The hospital. Surgery should be performed in a fully equipped, accredited hospital with an anaesthesiologist present.
- You should know who will see you after surgery, who removes your splint, and how follow-up works once you go home.
Red Flags to Avoid
- You don’t know who will operate. Always know your surgeon’s name and speak to them before surgery.
- Several operations in one day by the same team with very little time for each patient.
- A very low price that seems too good to be true.
- No consultation or assessment before you arrive, only a sales agent.
- Pressure to book quickly with time-limited “discounts”.
- Only one hotel night planned after surgery. You need around 7–10 days in Istanbul.
- No clear plan for follow-up after you return home.
Questions to Ask Before Booking
- Who will perform my surgery, and what is their specialty?
- How many rhinoplasties do you perform each year?
- Which technique do you recommend for my nose, and why?
- Will my breathing be assessed and treated if needed?
- Where will the surgery take place?
- What is included in the price?
- How will follow-up work after I go home?
- Can I see before-and-after photos of noses similar to mine?
What About Breathing?
A beautiful nose that doesn’t breathe well is not a good result. Many patients have a deviated septum or enlarged turbinates without knowing it. As an ENT surgeon, I always assess breathing and correct it during the same operation when needed. Read more in septorhinoplasty: improving the shape and breathing in one operation.
Is It Worth It?
For most patients who choose carefully, yes. A well-planned rhinoplasty in Istanbul offers excellent results, modern techniques and significant savings. The key is to choose a surgeon, not a package. For the full recovery timeline, read rhinoplasty recovery day by day.
Want an honest assessment? Send me a front, side and base photo of your nose on WhatsApp. I’ll tell you what can be achieved, which technique suits you and what it will cost.
