Facelift Cost UK vs Turkey (2026): What You Really Pay

If you live in the UK or the US and are considering a facelift, you have probably noticed a large difference between local prices and prices in Turkey. Many patients ask me the same questions: Why is a facelift so much cheaper in Istanbul? What is included? And is it safe? In this article, I compare the facelift cost in the UK, US and Turkey in 2026 and explain what you should look at beyond the price.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in the UK?

In the UK, a facelift is almost always performed privately. Prices vary by city, surgeon and technique, but published prices from UK clinics commonly start at around £10,000, and full or deep plane facelifts are frequently quoted well above this. Some UK clinics list a facelift from around £12,600 and a mini facelift from around £9,900, while others describe a typical range of £10,000 to £30,000.

These prices usually include the surgeon’s fee, anaesthesia and hospital stay, but not always. Consultation fees, pre-operative tests, post-operative garments and follow-up appointments may be charged separately, so it is important to ask for a detailed breakdown.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in the US?

In the US, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports average surgeon’s fees alone of approximately $12,000–$19,000 for a facelift and $7,500–$13,000 for a neck lift (2024 data). These figures do not include anaesthesia, operating room or hospital fees, medications or garments. Once these are added, the total cost of a facelift in the US is often considerably higher than the surgeon’s fee.

How Much Does a Facelift Cost in Turkey?

At my practice in Istanbul, the total facelift cost in Turkey in 2026 ranges from $4,500 to $9,500, depending on whether you need a mini facelift, an SMAS facelift or a deep plane facelift combined with a neck lift. This price is for a complete package, including:

  • Surgeon’s fee, anaesthesia and private hospital stay
  • Pre-operative tests
  • Medication, dressings and compression garment
  • Follow-up visits and stitch removal
  • Hotel accommodation during your recovery
  • Private airport, hotel and hospital transfers
  • A patient coordinator and direct WhatsApp contact with me

Facelift Cost Comparison at a Glance

  • UK: Commonly from around £10,000, often higher for full or deep plane techniques. Travel is not needed, but the total cost is much higher.
  • US: Surgeon’s fee alone around $12,000–$19,000, with anaesthesia and hospital fees on top.
  • Turkey (my practice): $4,500–$9,500 all-inclusive, with hotel and transfers. You also need to budget for flights and about 7–10 days away from home.

Even after adding flights and time off work, many patients find that a facelift in Istanbul costs a fraction of the UK or US price.

Why Is a Facelift Cheaper in Turkey?

The lower price does not come from lower standards. It mainly reflects differences in the cost of living, staff salaries, hospital costs and the exchange rate. Turkey also has a large, experienced medical tourism sector, which makes treatment for international patients efficient and well organised.

What matters is that the quality of the surgery and aftercare is not reduced. The same principles apply everywhere: the right technique for your face, a safe hospital environment, careful planning and proper follow-up.

What Should You Look At Beyond the Price?

A facelift is a major operation. Choosing on price alone is a mistake that can be very costly to correct. Before booking, I recommend checking:

  • The surgeon’s specialty and experience. Who will actually perform your surgery? Is the surgeon trained in facial surgery? As an ENT, head and neck and facial plastic surgeon, facial anatomy and the facial nerve are part of my daily work.
  • The technique offered. Is the surgeon suggesting a technique that suits your face, or one standard operation for everyone? Read my guide deep plane vs SMAS vs mini facelift.
  • Before and after photos. Look for natural results, defined jawlines and well-hidden scars in the surgeon’s own gallery.
  • What is included. Make sure hospital, anaesthesia, medication, follow-up and stitch removal are in the quote.
  • Can you reach your surgeon directly after you return home?

Hidden Costs to Watch Out For

When comparing quotes, be aware of costs that are sometimes left out:

  • Pre-operative blood tests and an ECG
  • Anaesthesia and hospital fees
  • Extra nights in hospital
  • Compression garments and medication
  • Follow-up visits and stitch removal
  • Revision surgery policy

A transparent quote should list all of these clearly. At my practice, you receive a written quote after your assessment, with no hidden extras.

How Long Do You Need to Stay in Turkey?

Most facelift patients stay in Istanbul for 7–10 days. This allows time for your consultation, surgery, the first days of recovery and stitch removal. I explain the recovery timeline and when you can fly in my article facelift recovery in Istanbul: how long to stay.

Is a Facelift in Turkey Safe?

A facelift in Turkey can be just as safe as anywhere else when you choose an experienced surgeon, an accredited private hospital and a clear aftercare plan. The risks of facelift surgery, such as haematoma, infection or temporary nerve weakness, are the same in every country, and they are reduced by careful patient selection, precise technique and close follow-up.

Before your trip, I review your medical history, medications and photos. If anything needs to be checked before surgery, we do it in advance, so your treatment is planned safely.
